Construction of good supporting port traffic facilities is an important measure for turning port resource into motive force promoting further economic development of Machong. The major works under construction include the extension of Machong Road, Xinsha Road and Donghuan Road. The purpose of constructing these works is to create smooth port logistics and activate port functions.
Machong Road, a landscape road and the central line of Machong, will become an important traffic artery leading to the port.
Xinsha Road that connects Machong Port Area and Xinsha Port Area of Humen Port and Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Area, starts from Dongjiang Bridge in the north and reaches Machong Road in the south. It passes across Machong Xinsha Industrial Park, Humen Port, Dongguan and gets to China (Dongguan) International Food Industrial Park. There is a trans-railway fly-over bridge along the road.
Donghuan Road runs through Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway and Dongguan-Machong Express Trunk Line, which organically connects Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, coastal expressway and Dongguan-Machong Express Trunk Line.
Rich coastline and land resources
The 21st century is an ocean century. The economy and trade has depended more and more on port. With the unique function of internal and external connection, port has created numerous business opportunities for
urban economic development. The 7.4-km-long coastline of Machong Town can be developed into a comprehensive port integrating berths of different sizes, container transport and bulk freight.
Machong is a less developed place in an area developed early. Its rich land resources are incomparable in Pearl River Delta. The development within the scope of 10 square kilometers requires no relocation of residents. It is an ideal place for consortiums and big enterprises to establish businesses or factories in large scale and with high efficiency.
Xinsha Port
Xinsha Port is the largest inland port in South China. 10 berths with tonnage of 50,000-100,000 have been built. The ships with tonnage up to 0.11 million can berth in the port. The annual throughput of the port is over 30 million tons,
accounting for over one fifth of that of the great Guangzhou Port. Its business has enjoyed great growth in the recent two years. The customs, inspection, quarantine and port administration departments provide efficient services to clients. The special railway of the port leads to all parts of the country. It is the only modernized port with railway transport in Dongguan.
Machong Port Area of Humen Port
Machong Port Area, an important part of Humen Port, is connected with Xinsha Port. The development and construction of Humen Port has vigorously promoted the economic development of Machong. At present, a number of domestic and overseas enterprises have settled in China (Dongguan) International Food
Industrial Park jointly developed by Machong Town and Humen Port. Supported by Humen Port, the park integrates port services, container transit, port ecological industrial park, food logistics, warehousing and service trade. On the one hand, it has the economic advantage of being near the port. On the other, it suits food industry characterized by labor force intensiveness and great logistics and organically combines industrial characteristics and location advantage.
Modernized new port city
Machong is constructing modernized new port city according to the group-type city layout with one center and several supporting points. The center refers to the central area focusing on administration, economy, culture and residence. The several supporting points refer to Dongguan Humen Port Machong Xinsha

Industrial Park, China (Dongguan) International Food Industrial Park, Dongguan Humen Port Machong Xinsha Logistics Park and Dongguan Machong Minying Business Establishment Park that are planned under the support of the port. Pollution-free industrial areas that are compatible with residence are arranged in the central area. The different groups are connected with crisscross arterial city roads and separated by eco-tourism area, greening isolation belt and farmland protected area covering land area of 3 square kilometers so that a modernized new city with beautiful environment, water village characteristics and urban space in graceful disorder that facilitates production and makes people's life easy will take shape.
